Upprætta infoboks
rættaHey Eileen. Eg prøvaði at copy'n'paste eina fyrimynd "Lívssøga" til eina nýggja fyri kongligar persónar Fyrimynd:Infoboks Kongligir persónar, men hon riggar ikki. Kanst tú finna útav hvat eg geri skeivt? Tofts (kjak) 22. nov 2015 kl. 22:04 (UTC)
- Hey. Hvar hevur tú avrita og týtt hana frá? Tað plaga at vera ymiskar kotur, ið ein má avrita eisini, og so týða so lítið sum møguligt, eg dugi so illa við kotum og plagi tí at avrita og síðan týða tað ið verður víst á síðunum, har ið fyrimyndirnar verða nýttar. Men um tú líka sigur mær, hvat tað er fyri ein fyrimynd, so kann eg vita, um eg finni út av tí. Tað er ikki nokk bara at avrita parametrarnir, koturunar aftanfyri mugu við. Um tú t.d. hyggur eftir da:Skabelon:Infoboks monark so sær t.d. ein linja út soleiðis: {{!}} colspan="2"style="text-align:center;"{{!}}<small>Valgsprog:</small><br/>''{{{valgsprog|}}}'' eg dugi ikki at síggja, at tað eru slíkar kotur sum hasar, ið tú hevur avritað. Vh. --EileenSanda (kjak) 24. nov 2015 kl. 23:11 (UTC)
- Hey. Eg avritaði hana herfrá Fyrimynd:Infoboks Lívssøga. Tofts (kjak) 24. nov 2015 kl. 23:15 (UTC)
- Ná, eg helt at tú hevði avritað frá donsku ella ensku. Tað er ikki so einfalt, koturnar mugu við. Hygg eftir hasari eg júst havi upprættað frá ensku Wikipediu: Fyrimynd:Infobox royalty, har er nógv ið skal týðast. Vh. --EileenSanda (kjak) 24. nov 2015 kl. 23:28 (UTC)
- Handa síðan ið tú upprættaði hóskaði betri til eina dokumentatiónssíðu enn til eina fyrimyndsíðu. Eg havi tí flutt innihaldið til Fyrimynd:Infoboks Kongligir persónar/doc og avritað innihaldið frá "Fyrimynd:Infoboks lívssøga" til hasa síðuna hjá tær, men hon skal tilpassast. Hevur tú mót uppá tað? --EileenSanda (kjak) 25. nov 2015 kl. 00:05 (UTC)
- Annars havi eg brúkt hasa nýggju fyrimyndina, ið eg upprættaði, til síðuna um Joachim (prinsur).
- Soleiðis, nú sær Fyrimynd:Infoboks Kongligir persónar út til at rigga. Tó má mann minnast til at skriva stødd fyri myndina, t.d. 200px, annars verður hon MEGA stór. Tað átti at kunna verða orðna, soleiðis at ein standardstødd kemur uttan at ein noyðist at definera hana, men eg veit ikki hvussu.
Vh. --EileenSanda (kjak) 25. nov 2015 kl. 11:03 (UTC)
- Hey. Kanst tú flyta hesa síðuna https://fo.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heilaga_r%C3%B3mverska_r%C3%ADki%C3%B0 til hesa https://fo.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kjak:Heilaga_r%C3%B3mverska_r%C3%ADki%C3%B0 sum tú fyrislær, ella siga mær hvussu man ger? (Eg kann seta tekstin inn umaftur). So kann eg prøva at kopiera tað til hesa síðuna https://fo.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byzantinska_r%C3%ADki%C3%B0 Tofts (kjak) 26. nov 2015 kl. 18:14 (UTC)
- Hey. Tað er bara við at kopiera allan handan tekstin og flyta hann yvir á sjálva síðuna. Eg kann gott gera tað. Eg vildi ikki gera tað uttan at spyrja teg fyrst, um tú nú heldur vildi hava hina infoboksina. Men hon hevur óviðkomandi upplýsingar sum internetkotu og telefonkotu og slíkt ið ikki var til tá ið Heilaga rómverska ríkið var til :) Vh. Eileen
- Hasar skapilónirnar, t.d. "Fyrimynd:Infobox former country" eru gjørdar útfrá tí ensku, og eg havi ikki týtt nakrar kotur yvirhøvur, bara tað ið stóð útfyri "Label", so at tað er føroyskur tekstur í kemur at standa í infoboksini og ikki enskur, men koturna eru á enskum og tí ber til at avrita beinleiðis frá ensku Wikipediu. Tað eigur at vera lætt at avita infoboksina frá tí ensku síðuni, alla sum hon er, og velur tú "Forskoðan" og hyggur eftir, hvat ið skal týðast. Tað eru gjarna landanøvn, mál, starvsheiti og tílíkt, ið hevur tørv á týðing, og tað er bara tað ið stendur høgrumegin =. --EileenSanda (kjak) 26. nov 2015 kl. 11:16 (UTC)
- Eg havi flutt hasa infoboksina, soleiðis at heitið nú er føroyskt: Fyrimynd:Infoboks fyrrverandi land.--EileenSanda (kjak) 26. nov 2015 kl. 11:18 (UTC)
- Hey. OK takk fyri :) Tofts (kjak) Nú prøvaði eg at kopiera ta ensku síðuna til føroyskt her: https://fo.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%B3mverjar%C3%ADki%C3%B0 Men okkurt er galið við árstølunum 26. nov 2015 kl. 14:57 (UTC)
- Hey. Har var ein skapilón (fyrimynd), ið ikki var upprættað her á føroysku. Talan var um Fyrimynd:Line-height, tað sást við at har stóð "Line-hight" við reyðum bókstavum. Eg havi upprættað hana við at avrita innihaldið frá tí ensku. Og nú síggjast árstølini. Vh. --EileenSanda (kjak) 26. nov 2015 kl. 18:07 (UTC)
- Hey. Kanst tú kopiera hesa ensku fyrimyndina til føroyskt? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_saint - Eg havi prøvað, men tað riggar ikki - eg havi longu gjørt umsetingarnar sum skulu setast ístaðin fyri ensku heitini. Tofts (kjak) 27. jan 2016 kl. 11:24 (UTC)
- Hey. --EileenSanda (kjak) 27. jan 2016 kl. 13:22 (UTC)
- Hey. Takk fyri. Ja, eg skal umseta heitini. Tofts (kjak) 27. jan 2016 kl. 17:39 (UTC).

Wikipedia Asian Month
rættaHi EileenSanda. I've saw your amazing work on fowp, and find out you intent to run this event. I guess you did not find out how to run it with us, sorry we did not provide a good talk channel. Following is the message I sent to all organizers for warp up the event. Let me know if you need my assistance.--AddisWang (kjak) 3. des 2015 kl. 05:12 (UTC)
Hi there!
We made it! The first edition of Wikipedia Asian Month has successfully ended! While your efforts are still needed since the wrap up stage is another big challenge for us. I understand everyone is busy in December, I will trying to cover everything we need in this message, hopefully can make this easier.
Guideline
- Check all submitted articles before 15th December, 2015.
- When you do so, please make a category that includes all articles of WAM. My approach is using the {{WAM talk 2015}} on the talk page of all articles, and generate a category for talk page.
- If you already submitted result on this page, please take a look that I add another column for articles selected for DYK. It could take a while for DYK process, you can fill that column later.
- You don't need to provide bytes column since I'm looking for a easy way to not brother us too much.
- When you checking articles, if you ever find an article submitted about Bashkortostan, Russia, please list them out. Bashkortostan community would like to send a postcard to whoever create that article.
- List all qualified organizers, up to five on each Wikipedia. Qualified organizers are ones who work actively; those who only have their name on the page or just made a few constructive edits for the event (less than, say, 5-10 edits) will not be counted. Due 20th December, 2015. Use this page to submit organizers.
- As you submit the qualified participants on this page, please also use P, O and A to mark them so I can know how many postcards should they receive. P(Participant), O(Organizers), A(Ambassadors). Please review the page if you submitted already. This is due 25th December, 2015 as previously mentioned.
- We will make a barnstar for whoever contribute to Wikipedia Asian Month, a user box for whoever accomplish the mission, and a ribbon bar for Ambassadors. It will be distribute after we have all qualified editors.
- You can find me on Facebook as Addis Wang, easiest way to talk with me for any questions or need my assistance. Leaving a message on meta is another option.
Further Actions
- You are welcome to submit an blog post draft for Wikimedia Blog at here about Wikipedia Asian Month in your local community, a specific story is more welcomed. I will help on that, and maybe integrate stories from different communities together to make a enough length articles. So don't hesitate to submit a short paragraph.
- A specific story about WAM. Like how some volunteers contribute in the event makes them special.
- A one sentence statement from you or participants about how you feel about Wikipedia Asian Month; why you like the event; what do you think we need to improve next year
- A short introduction about your community if it has not been introduced yet on Wikimedia Blog. Goals, current problems, why your community special etc.
- Sorry for the rough pages on meta. I will make a more beautiful page for all organizers and Ambassadors to honor their great contribution for Wikipedia.
- Next year: Many communities show their interest to hold this event again next year. We want to plan it in advance. If you represent a Wikimedia affiliate in Asia, please considering to include around 100 U.S. dollars in your annual grant application or similar. So Wikipedians around world can have a taste on your country or region next year! A mail list will be set up and inform you in next update. We will definitely make this event easier to participant next year, and improve our tool to give a better experience for both organizers and participants.
My Best Wishes and appreciation,
Addis Wang
Updates
rættaHi EileenSanda. I guess you may feel confused. So that 永续繁荣 User is creating WAM page everywhere and is not a organizer, but I can not stop him doing this. But at least this user give us a chance to know your amazing work here. I've checked all your articles and will updates the result on meta page. Thank you for participant in the event. Come and check our meta page.--AddisWang (kjak) 3. des 2015 kl. 05:24 (UTC)
- Hello, yes I am a bit confused, and I can't see anything on that page you refer to on meta. I suspected that this Wikipedia was not meant to be a part of Wikipedia Asian Month, because it was very late in November that 永续繁荣 User created the WAM page here, and he took no further action. Anyway, I thougth it could be fun to participate even if this Wikipedia was perhaps not meant to be a part of it, I was not sure, and anyway, we do lack a lot of important articles about Asia, so it is not a vaste of time that I created some and expanded some. So, should I take any further action or do nothing further? Best regards --EileenSanda (kjak) 3. des 2015 kl. 07:13 (UTC)
- I'm sorry I misstype the link above. Should be this one. meta page. I've put fowp and your name on the page. This issue happens on afwp, sqwp, svwp and dewp as well. Glad you like the event.--AddisWang (kjak) 5. des 2015 kl. 04:55 (UTC)
- So far, I've done the checking and result updating. So no further action required until we start to collect the address for postcards. And you can join the Asian Month next year as well if you would like to.--AddisWang (kjak) 5. des 2015 kl. 04:58 (UTC)
- Hello again. Ok, yes, that link works just fine, thanks, and thanks a lot for putting the Faroese Wikipedia and my username on the page.--EileenSanda (kjak) 5. des 2015 kl. 06:01 (UTC)

Merry Christmas and Happy 2016
rættaDearest Eileen Sanda, just a little message to say you Peace, joy, health and lot of money!!!
- Haha, cute photo :) Thanks a lot, I will also wish you a Mery Christmas and a Happy New Year, best wishes for 2016. --EileenSanda (kjak) 25. des 2015 kl. 09:30 (UTC)
Dearest EileenSanda, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Yeaterday we had the first snow of the year, not too much, but I liked!
Please, I opened this short page, and I ask you 5 minutes to translate the words in English. I hav anly a doubt for the word dominikan, it comes from Dominikanerordenen, is it correct?
Thanks a lot for your precious help and Happy New Year again!
Rei Momo (kjak) 4. jan 2016 kl. 09:14 (UTC)
- Hello Rei Momo and Happy New Year to you too. I have translated a few words, most of it was correct. Dominican = dominikanskur. The text under the photo: "Vápnaskjoldið hjá Piretto erkibiskupi", because "hjá" (in English they would use 's or "of") means that the maskulinum word "erkibiskupur" must be in dative case, which is "erkibiskupi". Best regards --EileenSanda (kjak) 4. jan 2016 kl. 11:56 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, dearest EileenSanda, have a nice Year!!! Rei Momo (kjak) 4. jan 2016 kl. 12:51 (UTC)

Recent changes
- Wikimedia no longer uses visitor statistics from comScore. [20]
- You can make interactive graphs with the Graph extension. There is now a tutorial for how to do this. [21]
Problems
- Some pages do not turn in up in categories where they should be. This is because link tables are sometimes not populated. [22]
Changes this week
- The Nuke extension will work with Flow. This will make it easier to handle spam in Flow. [23]
- New file uploads will now be patrollable. [24]
- Internet Explorer 8 will no longer have JavaScript support. You will still be able to browse and edit Wikipedia if you use Internet Explorer 8, but will not be able to use some features. This can be solved by upgrading to a newer version or switching to a different browser. [25][26]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 12 January at 20:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- URLs in the recent changes IRC feed will no longer be rewritten to unencrypted HTTP. This could be a breaking change for bots dependent on the IRC feed. [27]
- The edit tabs for the wikitext editor and the visual editor will be combined to one single edit tab. You will be able to choose which one you prefer. If you are not logged in, your choice will be saved as a cookie in your browser. You can test the single edit tab. [28][29]
- There is a beta feature that adds links to the subject on other Wikimedia projects. This works much like the links to for example Wikipedia articles in other languages. It will go out of beta testing and be enabled for everyone in January. Wikis that don't want this can decide to have it disabled. [30][31]
- The difference between "alerts" and "messages" notifications is unclear to some. The developers want feedback at the Phabricator task or on MediaWiki.org so they can make this better. You can give feedback in your language if you can't write in English.

Wikipedia is getting 15 years - WMF projects - translation of Wikidata labels and descriptions
rættaDear EileenSanda; There will be a birthday soon: Wikipedia is getting 15 years. I want to let you know that the number of d:Wikidata:Database reports/WMF projects there is also the page Wikipedia versions has increased to more then 409; there are also pages from Wikibook project pages to Wikiversity and Wiktionary project pages in that list. You may be interested in adding Wikidata labels and descriptions in your language. Only a few, maybe five. Please follow also the discussion at d:property talk:P218 and comment there. Best regards Gangleri also aka I18n (kjak) 14. jan 2016 kl. 00:15 (UTC)
- Hello Gangleri. I have a question, when you say "You may be interested in adding Wikidata labels and descriptions in your language." what do you mean? I would like to add Wikidata labels and descriptions in my language, but how do I do that and where? Yes, it is a big day soon :) Best regards --EileenSanda (kjak) 14. jan 2016 kl. 00:53 (UTC)
- Thanks for the answer! First go to Wikipedia_versions?setlang=fo. This will select the interface language for you. Then open the label links you want to translate in a new browser tab for each link. You should see an edit button and you should be able to insert the label in the corresponding field using a click/doubleklick. Same for the description and alias. Save your changes and go to another label link from the main list. Good luck! 14. jan 2016 kl. 02:21 (UTC)

Problems
- Sites with a
wikimedia.org
address were by mistake redirected to the Wikimedia Foundation wiki on 26 January. This included Meta and Wikimedia Commons. The mistake was fixed after an hour. [43] - Some users had problems logging in and out around 22 January. Bots also had problems and edit previews did not work properly. This was because of problems related to the new component SessionManager. It was undone on 23 January. [44][45]

- The Universal Language Selector input methods are now available with the visual editor. This means many who write in non-Latin scripts can now use the visual editor. [50]
- The visual editor will now give you more tools to edit tables. You can move rows and columns in a table and copy parts of tables to make new ones. You can also copy and paste more than one cell at the same time. [51][52][53]
- The visual editor has a new warning message when you leave a page you are editing without saving. Non-English wikis might need to translate it. [54][55]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 2 February. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 3 February. It will be on all wikis from 4 February (calendar).

Recent changes
- Thanks to the Graph extension and Pageview API, we now have {{Graph:PageViews}} templates that can show pageviews for any wiki page for any of the wikis. See the examples.
- The Capiunto extension is installed on test wiki. Capiunto provides flexible infobox functionality for Scribunto and generates HTML for infobox features such as headers and rows. It is designed for clean and modern infoboxes that are driven by data from Wikidata, easily usable across different language versions, and easily extensible.

format
setting announced in November. When you edit or add a use of a template, the wikitext will be laid out in one of the two ways. [80][81] - The order of parameters and format defined in a template's TemplateData will be now respected. [82][83]

Recent changes
- Files on Wikimedia Commons can now be 2 GB big. The old limit was 1 GB. [88]
- Welcome notifications now have a different symbol. English Wikipedia already had this one. [89]
- The Wikimedia memory cache servers in the Eqiad cluster have now been upgraded to Debian 8 (Jessie). Some users might have had to log in again because of this. [90]
- It is now easier to categorize images uploaded to Wikimedia Commons in the Commons Android app. [91]
- Bare attributes in tags now parse according to the HTML5 specifications.
<pages from= to= section=1>
will parse as<pages from="to=" section="1">
instead of<pages from="" to="" section="1">
as it used to. Please use<pages from="" to="" section=1>
or<pages section=1>
instead. This is mostly likely to affect pages on Wikisource projects. [92]
Problems
- Phabricator has been a bit unstable lately. This should be fixed now. [93]
- The PageView API shows wrong data between 23 February and 29 February for pages with special characters in their title. [94]
- The parsing change mentioned above caused a large number of pages to break, especially on Wikisource. [95]
- You may see falsely formatted edit links on both mobile and desktop devices. Mobile devices can also show incorrect formatted table of contents. This should be fixed soon. [96]
- Templates using TemplateData that were edited with the visual editor might have some problems in wikitext mode. This can be fixed by editing and saving the page by using the visual editor without making any changes. [97]
Changes this week

<mapframe>
and<maplink>
tags in an article to insert an interactive map and overlay it with different markers. You can add ideas and suggestions to the Maps talk page. If you find any bugs, you can report them in Phabricator. [99]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 8 March at 20:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The buttons in interfaces will be simplified. Instead of white, red, green and blue buttons, in future there will only be white, red and blue ones. [100]

Copied a discussionpage on the French Wikipedia
rættaCould you help implementing Module:Cycling race to the fo-Wikipedia?
- Hello Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick. I noticed the discussion on the Danish Wikipedia about impementing the Module:Cycling race there (the discussion on User:Tøndemageren discussionpage). I think that sound like a very good idea, and I would like to implement the module on the Faroese wiki too . I have started, but best if you take a look and tell me what is missing or help me to write what is missing, and just tell me what more I should do. We use the same date as Danish, Norwegian and German like 11. februar 2016. Could you please reply on my discussionpage on the Faroese Wikipedia? Thanks and kind regards --EileenSanda (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 07:15 (UTC)
- I have created the module and tried to add fo, but I think there is more that should be done. --EileenSanda (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 07:17 (UTC)
- I have created Fyrimynd:Cycling race/listofstages but it says there is an error in the module. --EileenSanda (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 07:19 (UTC)
- I have created the module and tried to add fo, but I think there is more that should be done. --EileenSanda (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 07:17 (UTC)
List of winners
rættaCopied from Tøndemageren's discussionpage For the function #2, I need a Danish translation of these words :
l10nDef["//fo.wikipedia.org"] = {"Year", "Winner", "Second", "Third"}
- I can help you:
- {"Ár", "Vinnari", "Nr. 2", "Nr. 3"}
I think I have already translated the other words you asked for, I translated them directly into the module, hope that is okay? --EileenSanda (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 07:22 (UTC)
Hi, it's me. I start the process. Can you add FO translation at the Kit to translate ? It permits to users to contribute in their native language. I will contact you again in few time. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 09:38 (UTC)
- I work on the d:Module:Cycling race from Wikidata. When there will have new functions, I will simply make an update. The FO module is simply a copy. So I adapt the dates, and I give you the version of program that have the minimum of Wikidata logos, because we share the same alphabet. I continue. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 09:50 (UTC)
- Ok, thank you! So I don't have to do anything else about this right now? --EileenSanda (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 09:54 (UTC)
l10nDef["fo"] = {plain = "Flad", hilly="Flad med brosten", inter='Kuperet', mount='Bjergetape', time_prologue='', time_team='Holdkørsel', time_indiv='Enkeltstart', uphill='', rest=''}
I need the different values in FO for the different types of stages. uphill is is individual time trial in a climb. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 10:03 (UTC)
- Ok, here it is:
l10nDef["fo"] = {plain = "Slætt", hilly="Slætt við brúgvasteinum", inter='Óslætt', mount='Fjallateinur', time_prologue='Forteinur', time_team='Liðsúkkling', time_indiv='Einkultstartur', uphill='', rest='Hvílidagur'}
- Rest day is Hvílidagur. --EileenSanda (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 10:18 (UTC)
- Thank you, on an other hand, I need another translation :
l10nDef["//en.wikipedia.org"] = {"Rider", "Date of birth"}
Rider = Súkklari
Date of birth = Føðingardagur
On the super module on Wikidata, I also add months in FO. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 10:29 (UTC)
- On another hand, I give you Fyrimynd:ProCyclingStats. It is an external link, and we can also use it to source articles. When we enter datas on Wikidata, we add these statements as sources, to verify datas. As you can see on fr:Modèle:ProCyclingStats, we have three different properties, one for cyclists, one for season teams, and another for cycling races. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 10:35 (UTC)
- I give you the two last functions. I am juste the guy that discuss with users, Molarus works on the code, so I contact it to speak about the functions that have problems. If my souvenirs are good, it already happened. Note that you will need to pass a big amount of time on Wikidata to give values in FO, but once it is done, it is good forever. On the future, when we will have new functions, I will present them at you. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 10:58 (UTC)
- Normally, it is good. Can you verify ? Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 12:54 (UTC)
- I forget ; it lacks a translation for the team roster. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 14:30 (UTC)
- Normally, it is good. Can you verify ? Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 12:54 (UTC)

- When you will create articles about teams, you will can find informations about roster on DA Wiki. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 15:15 (UTC)
Could you please tell me where on Wikidata I will find the pages which needs Faroese properties? Thanks for all your help! --EileenSanda (kjak) 10. mar 2016 kl. 17:35 (UTC)
- It is on Wikidata at d:Wikidata:WikiProject Cycling/Kit to translate. You should add this page at your watchlist, because I regularly add new items to translate. This way you can work in your language (that is why it can be more easy to work on Wikidata than on Wikipedia). When you go on Wikidata, by clicking to the Wikidata logo, you can add values to items of cyclists as exemple. The teams to have are listed here and here. I hope you create these articles during the week end. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 11. mar 2016 kl. 10:45 (UTC)

- The search engine on wikipedia.org has been updated. [103]
Changes this week
- Wikimedia has a new backup data center in Dallas. Because of planned work on this, you will be able to read but not edit the wikis for a short period of time on both 22 March and 24 March. Problems
- Wikimedia tested a new data center last week. This meant that the wikis could be read but not edited for 45 minutes on April 19 and for 20 minutes on April 21. [131]
- When the data center was tested, new edits were not shown in the recent changes log for 20 minutes. They are in the logs now. You can read more about how to find the edits.
- Unread notifications were sometimes counted incorrectly. This has now been fixed. [132]
Changes this week

- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on April 26 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The "Goym síðu" button when you edit will be called "Publish" instead. This is to help new editors understand what it does. It already works like this on some wikis. [135]

Translations
rættaHi EileenSanda. I need translations in FO for d:Wikidata:WikiProject Cycling/Kit to translate, and especially for d:Q2328847. Cordially, Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 29. apr 2016 kl. 10:33 (UTC)
- I have translated Trainee into Royndarsúkklari, I am not sure if that is a correct word, but I can't find any word for this term in the Faroese dictionary and I don't know a word for it, so I used that word. Are there any other important translations missing? --EileenSanda (kjak) 14. mai 2016 kl. 05:50 (UTC)

Now Commons
rættaWith 90% of the fowiki files now in Commons, it is easy to create articles showing them in other Wikipedias. One such result is ia:Andreas Hans Emil Christian Weihe. The data in the infobox is completely coming from Wikidata and Commons.
Hundreds of files have been moved to Commons from local Wikipedias and 108 Wikipedias have switched to have zero local media files or never had any. A list of them : meta:List of Wikipedias having zero local media files, including Swedish and Danish WP. The Bokmal Wikipedia still has one file Wiki.png and Nynorsk has 16 files. Maybe fowiki also can switch to zero local media files. 91.9.107.250 20. mai 2016 kl. 12:04 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks a lot for your work here. Yes, I think that would be a good idea, that the Fareoese Wikipedia should not have any local media files, I will see what I can do. Thanks for the info about the infobox. How can I do the same here? Is there a template on the English Wikipedia which I could use here? --EileenSanda (kjak) 20. mai 2016 kl. 12:40 (UTC)
- Regarding the infobox I added a new section below. Regarding the files, there are currently 140 left in fowiki. 125 of these are in Bólkur:NowCommons. If they are deleted then one can easily find the remaining 15 in Special:ListFiles and review what to do. 91.9.107.250 20. mai 2016 kl. 14:21 (UTC)
- Could you delete some more from Bólkur:NowCommons? Yesterday Ilokano Wikipedia switched to zero local files. Count of zero-local Wikipedias is now 109. 91.9.115.96 21. mai 2016 kl. 19:30 (UTC)
- Maybe you can delete the next 30? Then fowiki is below 100 local files. 91.9.110.5 22. mai 2016 kl. 09:48 (UTC)

If a local file has the same name as different in Commons, the image inclusion via Wikidata may display the image of an unrelated item, e.g. a different person. Among the person photos there were some that had the name used by a different file in Commons, so the local file was transferred to a different name in Commons. What is stopping the deletion of the local files that have been transferred? 91.9.122.141 23. mai 2016 kl. 11:40 (UTC)
- Nothing is stopping the process except that it takes time, I will delete them as soon as I can, but there is also a lot of work to do on Wikidata. --EileenSanda (kjak) 23. mai 2016 kl. 11:46 (UTC)
- Ok, I understand. Now Serstakt:Hagtøl says there are 112 files. If you could delete 13 then fowiki is below 100. Maybe I can do some work in Wikidata for you - but I now see what you did there, adding labels - great! Well, I cannot help with that. 91.9.122.141 23. mai 2016 kl. 13:08 (UTC)
- No, you cannot help with adding labels in Faroese on Wikidata :) It has to be me or some other Faroese-speakig person. I will delete at least 13 more files, so we will be below 100. --EileenSanda (kjak) 23. mai 2016 kl. 13:17 (UTC)

I created some person-placeholder pages for persons in Bólkur:NowCommons that are already in Wikidata (often with links norsk/dansk WP). I added the image in WD and linked to fowiki. Rasmus Rasmussen was more complex as several items exist in WD, and the disambiguation terms between WPs vary. I made ia:Rasmus Rasmussen (disambiguation) with disambiguation by year. Year is short and does not reduce a person to one occupation. And I found a possible mistake as nowiki has a politician born 1880 and another born 1886 but both died 1961. (no:Rasmus Rasmussen (politiker), no:Rasmus Rasmussen (fagforeningsleder)). Now I came back and see your message to stop with the placeholdes. OK, I understand. I was not fully sure it would be liked. Could you help with creating two articles for Mikkjal Danielsen? 1) https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1933694 - football player 2) the politician c:File:Mikkjal_Danielsen.png ? I tried logting.fo for the birthdate, but didn't find a search for people. 91.9.102.160 24. mai 2016 kl. 11:31 (UTC)
- I don't understand why you need a placeholder page? An article here must be in Faroese and must have some text, I can't see the point of creating articles with only this text: "Olaf Johannes Olsen - eitt menniskja." It says absolutely nothing, only that he is a human being, what else should he be? There are a lot of the photos of Faroese politicians (old) which don't have any article here or on any other Wikipedia. --EileenSanda (kjak) 24. mai 2016 kl. 13:54 (UTC)
- I wanted to help you and fowiki. I personally don't need any placeholder page. The pages were in Faroese and they linked to articles in nowiki and dawiki, so it would be easy for a Faroese speaker to expand, from nowiki/dawiki text. Anyway, I stopped and will not create more. When I now find links in nowiki or dawiki, I create a stub in iawiki instead. iawiki also uses the images from Wikidata, so they are displayed at least in one Wikipedia article. Best, 91.9.102.160 24. mai 2016 kl. 14:08 (UTC)
- I am sorry about that, its just that I did not wish to have a lot of very short stubs here, but I am glad for the work you have done here and you are welcome to continue, I find it quite exciting with the new infoboxes which take all the informations from Wikidata. I am sorry that I said it in the way I did, thanks for your effort and your help! Kind regards --EileenSanda (kjak) 24. mai 2016 kl. 16:38 (UTC)
- I am happy to here you are excited about the new WD-infoboxes. It also helps to find differences between WD and the article. I have seen articles -not in fowiki- that had other birth information than WD. I will add some more person-boxes to existing articles now. :-) 91.9.102.160 24. mai 2016 kl. 19:19 (UTC)

17 files left in fowiki, some additional files just transferred, so that now 16 of the 17 files are in Bólkur:NowCommons. The file File:HansJH.jpg cannot be transferred because it was deleted in Commons. Undeletion requested at c:Commons:Deletion requests/File:HansJH.jpg, but deleting admin is no longer admin. Now another request at c:Commons:Undeletion_requests/Current_requests#File:HansJH.jpg. Waiting for the 16 to be deleted :-)... 91.9.112.38 26. mai 2016 kl. 14:17 (UTC)
- I have deleted all files now, and the statics now say minus four files, how can we have minus four files? --EileenSanda (kjak) 26. mai 2016 kl. 19:01 (UTC)
- In the afternoon I already saw a mismatch and placed a request at User_talk:Dereckson. The counter had been out of sync in other WPs too. My understanding: On deletion the counter is reduced, on upload increased. If it was out of sync, it could stay so longer. But for fowiki it seems to be fixed, at least both methods return "0". 91.9.112.38 27. mai 2016 kl. 03:18 (UTC)
- Ok, yes, now it says zero :) --EileenSanda (kjak) 27. mai 2016 kl. 04:52 (UTC)

Infobox, categories, lists, Wikidata
rættaI copied the generic article-space infobox from iawiki and translated to English : Fyrimynd:Infobox/article. It is now in Andreas Hans Emil Christian Weihe. In iawiki for persons there is a specialised infobox ia:Template:Infobox/typo/persona. You could copy that maybe to Fyrimynd:Infobox/article/person or Fyrimynd:Infobox/article/human in case it should be restricted to humans. Restricting to humans might make the connection with Wikidata easier as there should be "instanceOf=human". At ia:Wikipedia:Lista de classes de articulos there is a list of all infoboxes - they cover all items in the article space. Person, territorial entity and taxon are the largest. For each of these three there are more than 2 millions items in Wikidata. There are some problems with the classification in Wikidata, the claims subclassOf and instanceOf are not applied consistently. Also, the taxons might be better covered by subclassOf=biota as there are dog breeds which are subclasses of biota but are not taxons. Human races could also be covered by subclass of biota, they are all subclasses of the taxon homo sapiens sapiens but don't form their own taxon. On the other hand dolphines (ia:Delphino) belong to different taxons.
Ideally the categories would be calculated from Wikidata, but currently in iawiki each infobox also has a hardcoded category. E.g. ia:Categoria:Instantia de persona - person here also includes groups of people and legal entities, not only natural persons (humans). And then there is ia:Categoria:Wikidata:Instantia de esser human which contains all articles where the item in Wikidata has instanceOf=human.
All larger lists are in the Annex-namespace [157] and in the last 24h the first list has been converted to be maintained by ListeriaBot: ia:Appendice:Lista de statos de Brasil. The lists have Template:Infobox/appendice/lista. 91.9.107.250 20. mai 2016 kl. 13:49 (UTC)
- If you have any question ask here, and if I don't reply write at ia:Discussion Wikipedia:Infobox. I am watching iawiki more than fowiki. 91.9.107.250 20. mai 2016 kl. 13:51 (UTC)
- It sounds quite complicated I think. The infobox you created for Andreas Hans Emil Christian Weihe does not show his birthday or date of death here or any other information except that he is human, so not so useful for now. But the idea is interesting, and if it works well it might by a good idea, but I am not sure. --EileenSanda (kjak) 20. mai 2016 kl. 23:21 (UTC)
- It showed the image :-). Anyway I added a box specific for humans. The box can be improved later and all articles will benefit. An example where it revealed data that was not in fowiki is Einar Waag. I just added {{{infobox/article/human}}} and voila, an image showed up. This template may especially be useful in fowiki on pages about humans that are not from Faroe. Some people where a lot of data is in Wikidata. 91.9.107.250 21. mai 2016 kl. 02:18 (UTC)
- Some additions to US politicians [158] and to Angela Merkel. 91.9.107.250 21. mai 2016 kl. 02:49 (UTC)
- Please don't add it to a lot of articles, before I have a chance to translate it into Faroese. The problem is that I don't understand the language you write in, so I can't translate it. Is there a corresponding infobox on the English Wikipedia, so I can have an idea how to translate it? It look a bit like Fyrimynd:Infoboks persónur which is based on this template from the English Wikipedia: en:Template:Infobox person. I also need to translate a lot of properties on Wikidate if that template should work properly here. --EileenSanda (kjak) 21. mai 2016 kl. 05:25 (UTC)
- It is okay now with the translation of the infobox, I found out that most of it was the same as the one I asked about. I will have a look at the articles where you added the infobox and try to make translations to Wikidate where the Faroese word is missing. You can add the infobox to more articles about non-Faroese people if you like, it seems to work well now that it has been translated, but only add it where there is no prior infobox. --EileenSanda (kjak) 21. mai 2016 kl. 06:18 (UTC)

- Some additions to US politicians [158] and to Angela Merkel. 91.9.107.250 21. mai 2016 kl. 02:49 (UTC)
02:18 (UTC)
23:21 (UTC)
One question: What is the English word for "Identificatores"? --EileenSanda (kjak) 21. mai 2016 kl. 06:25 (UTC)
- Happy it is now in a state you like. The word is "identifiers", most important that come to my mind are ISNI and VIAF. Yes, many Q-items need translation, also for interlingua. I know no way to have the Pxyz names (names of properties) in the infobox. Then one would only need to translate in Wikidata and the template could be completely language neutral and re-usable in other wikis. What also is missing a way to split fields and to have local links. I can do linking, but when several occupation exist the link would go to "journalist, politician". Also if the label is "X" but the article is at "X (dab-term)" then I don't know how to link. But with modules this can be done. So when technology is progressing, then one only needs to edit the template and all person-arcticles would benefit. Much less editing work. 91.9.115.96 21. mai 2016 kl. 14:25 (UTC)
When I edit the article about Ronaldo, it seem that this template needs to be created: Fyrimynd:Image class names but I can't find it on the English Wikipedia, where can I find it? --EileenSanda (kjak) 21. mai 2016 kl. 19:39 (UTC)
- It exists in some wikis [159], including iawiki ia:Patrono:Image_class_names. I will remove the reference from the infoboxes in iawiki and fowiki, and mark the template for deletion in iawiki. There is also other stuff that needs to be changed. Good that iawiki and fowiki are both only using data from Wikidata, so they can share their experiences. Here, iawiki is profiting from fowiki :-). 91.9.110.5 22. mai 2016 kl. 09:45 (UTC)
Hasar løgnu amerikansku boksirnar
rættaHey Eileen, tað sær út til, at tú ert komin á lagið at finna út av, hvussu hasar amerikansku boksirnar verða umsettar beint.
Aftan á seinastu broytingina (hjá brúkara Jagldýr) so búgva 3 komma 8 fólk í Hoyvík!! Flestu fólk kunnu hugsa sær til, at hetta ikki passar og helst skal vera 3 túsund og 800 fólk. Men veitst tú, hvussu hetta kann fást beint í boksini? Benadikt (kjak) 15. mai 2016 kl. 20:33 (UTC)
- Hey, eg fekk loyst trupulleikan vid manglandi punktum eftir dag, t.d. 1. januar, men tað sær verri út við komma í tølum, har ið vit vanliga ikki seta komma. Eg royndi at rætta í einum modulið eftir tí svensks, men so vísti tað seg, at feilir hendu í øðrum fyrimyndum. So í løtuni dugi eg ikki at loysa trupulleikan. Evt. mugu vit bara nýta tær gomlu infoboksirnar, til trupulleikin er loystur. Vh. --EileenSanda (kjak) 16. mai 2016 kl. 11:16 (UTC)
- OK. Ja, eg kann hugsa mær, at tað er eitt sindur verri at fáa kommaið/kommaini burtur, tí proseduran, sum genererar tað/tey (fyri hvørji 3 siffur) er meiri kompliserað enn at seta eitt einkult tekn eyka í dato. Hesi bæði modulini nýta eitt telduforrit, ið nevnist Lua. Tey kunnu gera arbeiði við fyrimyndum nógv lættari uppá ein máta, men samstundis eru tey sera tórfør at rætta og tilpassa til onnur mál, ið nýta onnur mát enn enskt og amerikanskt. - Hví verða "miles", "squaremiles" og líknandi ikki koyrd burtur úr skabelónunum? Tað er ongin orsøk at hava tílík miðaldarmát, sum ikki eru loyvd at brúka í Evropa, við í einari føroyskar wikipediu.

Master Eileen Sanda speaking to IP servant
rætta"Hello IP-adress user, why did you remove the infobox person and replaced it with infobox/human in some articles like you did in this edit? I told you that you could add the new infobox in articles where we don't have any infobox. Please don't remove infoboxes from articles here! The new infobox which you created have less info than the Fyrimynd:Infobox person, so it is not an improvement to replace it. --EileenSanda (kjak) 28. mai 2016 kl. 17:08 (UTC)"
Sorry, master. I didn't respect you as the master of this Wiki.
You claim "The new infobox which you created have less info than the Fyrimynd:Infobox person" - maybe you mean "has"? Well, how did you measure this? How much info does Fyrimynd:Infobox person have and how much info does "The new infobox which you created" have? Please use an international standard unit of measurement.
Regarding your reference to "this edit", after adding the standard box it says
- Starv Sjónleikari, tónleikari, sangari, sjónvarpsleikari
before it said
- Starv Sjónleikari, songkvinna
No reference for "songkvinna" was provided. Now the data is at least coming from Wikidata where more people have an eye on the information.
Regarding "I told you that you could" - I wait for new commands.
Or optionally I may disobey and be loyal to the basic goals of Wikipedia: Create an encyclopedia. 91.9.116.71 28. mai 2016 kl. 17:29 (UTC)
- Perhaps you know better Faroese than me? "Songkvinna" is the female form of "Singer". I am administrator of this Wikipedia, and the only active administrator at the moment and I have made more edits here than any other user. I can ask you to what ever I like, there is no need to patronize me. You don't bother to create a user, so what else can I call you than IP-address user? You sign your comments with a variety of ip-addresses. I have added the new infobox to more articles and added missing labels to Wikidata. I have also changed the infobox a bit. --EileenSanda (kjak) 29. mai 2016 kl. 11:36 (UTC)
- Regarding the infobox in the article about Telma Hopkins the new infobox does not say "Years active", the other one did. It does not mention her spouse and son, the other one did. I added only two employments in the infobox person, because I copied it directly from the English Wikipedia and translated the two words: "Actress, singer" which in Faroese is "Sjónleikari, songkvinna". --EileenSanda (kjak) 29. mai 2016 kl. 11:54 (UTC)
Wikidata-modul
rættaHej. Jeg har fundet en løsning på 'og'-problem. Mediawiki:And skal der tilføjes et et blanktegn foran 'og'. Du kan se det med:
{{#invoke:Wikidata/sandbox/steenth|formatStatements|property=P106}}<br /> {{#invoke:Wikidata/sandbox/steenth|formatStatements|property=P40}}
{{#invoke:Wikidata/sandbox/steenth|formatStatements|property=P6}}
Dog virker dette ikke:
{{#invoke:Wikidata|getValue|property=P6}}
Hvorfor ved jeg ikke. Men det virker på dawiki:
{{#invoke:Sandkasse/PHansen/Wikidata|getValue|P6|FETCH_WIKIDATA}}
Så er lidt, der skal kigges på. --Steenth (kjak) 30. mai 2016 kl. 12:00 (UTC)

Classifications with Wikidata
rættaHi. With Molarus the work continue to be able to display classifications with Wikidata. You can see on FR Wiki at fr:Modèle:Cycling race/generalclassification and fr:Modèle:Cycling race/stageclassification a test of these two new functions. I need you vote very fastily for the creation of two properties, d:Wikidata:Property proposal/time gap and d:Wikidata:Property proposal/distinctive jersey. Once they will be created, they will be used to finished the code. After a little period to find bugs, we will be able to display classifications of races in more than twenty languages.
On another point, I need you verify on d:Wikidata:WikiProject Cycling/Kit to translate if you have all the translations in your language, and on d:Module:Cycling race around line 1890 if you have translations. On this page, you will also find the documentations for all the functions created since six months. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 12. jun 2016 kl. 18:00 (UTC)

Teams
rættaHi EileenSanda. I give you the new version of the code, thanks for the translations, but I prefer if you put them on d:Module:Cycling race because there is a risk I don't see them on DA Wiki.
I need you create a lot of articles about cycling teams with just a introduction and the 2016 roster. You don't need to add an infobox because a common infobox will arrive in the future. This will permits me to add previous rosters, and the infobox when it will exist. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 7. sep 2016 kl. 09:22 (UTC)
- Ok, I didn't know about that page on Wikidata. Which articles do you mean I should create? Can you give me an example? Is there a list over relevant teams? --EileenSanda (kjak) 7. sep 2016 kl. 09:54 (UTC)
- On Fyrimynd:Cycling race/listofteams, we have the examples of Wanty-Groupe Gobert, Bora-Argon 18, Fortuneo-Vital Concept, Roompot-Oranje Peloton, Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise, Gazprom-RusVelo, Stölting Service Group, Wilier Triestina-Southeast, Nippo-Vini Fantini, Delko-Marseille Provence-KTM, Wallonie Bruxelles-Group Protect, Roubaix Métropole européenne de Lille, Crelan-Vastgoedservice, HP BTP-Auber 93, Armée de Terre, Bardiani CSF, Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, ONE Pro Cycling, Wiggins, An Post-ChainReaction, JLT Condor, Madison Genesis, NFTO. It don't need a very big work, one phrase to introduce, categories, and roster given with one line of code thanks to Wikidata. Thanks to this, you will receive little to little updates. If you have the time, you can play to write articles about old teams, for example fr:Équipe cycliste IJsboerke where I translate from catalan and add rosters. For 2016, we have on FR Wiki fr:Liste des équipes continentales en 2016. As you can see it is not perfect, because it rest teams to write articles. In the next months, we will be able to reuse all datas from Wikidata, so it will change a big number of things. For example you will can write articles about season team or stages because you will receive all the datas and will be able to write text. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 11. sep 2016 kl. 15:41 (UTC)
- You have today a new function : Fyrimynd:Cycling race/teamtimetrialclassification. It is rare we use it but it is logic to have specific functions.
- Ok, thank you for the info. I will create as many as I can of the missing articles. --EileenSanda (kjak) 11. sep 2016 kl. 16:39 (UTC)
- Thank you. For Wanty-Groupe Gobert, the 2015 roster was on Wikidata. If you need a particular roster for a particular season, you can contact me without problems. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 12. sep 2016 kl. 09:05 (UTC)
- Ok. I copied the 2015 roster from the English Wikipedia, I didn't know it was on Wikidata also. --EileenSanda (kjak) 12. sep 2016 kl. 09:09 (UTC)
- Where can I find a page about ONE? I can't find any cycling team with this name on the English Wikipedia.--EileenSanda (kjak) 12. sep 2016 kl. 09:13 (UTC)

Recent changes
- There is a new newsletter from the Collaboration team at the Wikimedia Foundation. It will have more details about for example Flow and notifications. You can read the first issue.
Problems
- Some users got a warning about Wikipedia's security certificate last week. This was because of a problem GlobalSign had. This has now been fixed. Only a small number of users got the warning. [294]
- Editors couldn't edit semi-protected pages in the Wikipedia app for Android. This has now been fixed in the beta version. [295]
Changes this week
- There will be no new MediaWiki version this week. [296]
Future changes
- The Editing Department are working on a new wikitext editor. It will have tools that are in the visual editor but not in the wikitext editor today. You can read more about this. This is an early plan and things can change. The old wikitext editor will still exist.

Problems
- The abuse filters had a problem and caught too many edits. This has now been fixed. [297]
Changes this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from October 25. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from October 26. It will be on all wikis from October 27 (calendar).
- The "Search" text in the search box will show the name of the project. For example, on Wikipedia it will say "Search Wikipedia". [298]
- About a dozen wikis now have numerical sorting in categories. If your wiki wants numerical sorting in categories you can ask for it. [299]
- Some wikis that want numerical sorting in categories can also ask to use UCA to sort categories. The biggest difference is that characters with diacritics will be sorted together. For example, for most languages Ä will be sorted with A instead of at the end of the alphabet. This is not true for languages that have Ä as a character in their alphabet. Wikis that already use UCA are listed on Meta. Languages that can use UCA are listed on MediaWiki.org. You can test it.

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month
rættaHi EileenSanda!
Thanks again for your contribution in Wikipedia Asian Month last year. I would like to invite you help organizing the event this year on FoWp. We will use Central Notice in Faroese so it could be a good chance to attract more people join Faroese Wikipedia. Here are the guidelines of what need to do. Let me know what do you think, so I will put you on the organizer list that you can receive the updates.

rætta- Our Sample page with the new logo is ready to be translated. There are only a few adjust if you had this page for 2015 already.
- Article Requirement is 4
- Article criteria is 3k bytes and 300 words. NO 2k bytes for smaller Wikipedia.
- According to the tool's limit, IP users can not participate. Please encourage them register an account.
Localization
rætta- Please localize this template and used on sign up page. I will update the template once the tool is ready to be used.
- You can also localize this template and use as an invitation letter. en:Template:WAM Welcome
- You may localize this page, but you can also just put a link towards the meta page. m:Wikipedia Asian Month/QA

rætta- You may want to invite some of your Wikipedia friends or active Wikipedians from your home WIKI to help you organize.
- You may want to send some invitation to last year participants, active Wikipedians, and Wikipedians who has a special interest.
- Central Notice will be used but the effect could be limited due to the active Wikimedia Fundraising Campaign. You may use the Site Notice if you don't see the CN is deployed.

Best Wishes,
--AddisWang (kjak) 26. okt 2016 kl. 16:23 (UTC)
- I have updated the page. Should we delete the contributions from last year, or how does it work? I have also updated the Danish page, there was no activity there last year, I have added myself there also, but is that enough? --EileenSanda (kjak) 28. okt 2016 kl. 10:28 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for doing so. So you can just move the page to Wikipedia:Asian Month/2015, and start a new participants page. Can you also translate this message into both language at here so we can activate Central Notice, which can help us get more people joining us. Best,--AddisWang (kjak) 30. okt 2016 kl. 04:56 (UTC)
- I also update the orgnaizer list and put your name on it at DaWp. I will send you some updates regarding the judging tool and etc. So you can judge articles that people sumbitted on FoWp and DaWp.--AddisWang (kjak) 30. okt 2016 kl. 05:00 (UTC)
- Ok. But you could also make User:Palnatoke on Danish wiki as a judge, I can see he has added himself to the list, and he is one of the administrators on Danish Wiki, I am just a normal user there. --EileenSanda (kjak) 31. okt 2016 kl. 23:40 (UTC)

WAM Organizers Update (Nov.5)
rættaHi WAM Organizer! Hopefully everything works just fine so far! Need Help Button, post in any language is fine
- Here are some recent updates for you, and as always, let me know if you have any idea, thought or question.
- IMPORTANT: Asian Language Wikipedia will exclude the language speaking country from the Asian Month so we can encourage editors write something about other part of Asia. E.g., Chinese Wikipedia will exclude Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Indian language Wikipedia will exclude India. If you have problems with that, please let me know.
- I've posted the tool instruction and newest postcard rules on each Wiki' event page. Make sure you translate it. In short: 4 articles get one card, 15 get another one (Special one), and the Ambassador gets another one.
- We will still allow two Ambassadors if top and second contributors have more than 30 accepted articles, just like last year. Please send this information to high-quantity participant to encourage them.
- Please create this talk page template and linked in Wikidata. Judging tool will add this template to submitted articles automatically.
- The judging tool should work fine. If not, talk to me.
- You may put this template on your user page if you like it. en:Template:User WAM organizer
- Optional: Judging Tool Interface may not available in your language. If you feel needed, you can translate the interface at here.
- Invite some active contributors from your wiki to participate. And please encourage editors who can speak more than one language participate to other WAM edition.
- Indic Community: CIS-A2K will provide fund if you would like to organize an offline event of Wikipedia Asian Month. Apply at here.
Best Wishes,
Addis Wang

- I'm doing some basic statistics at Result page every week, in case you are interested.

WAM Tool Update
rættaHi WAM organizers, due to unexpected maintenance on wmfLabs, which host our judging tool, the tool is currently down and can not be used in around next 48 hours or less. Please inform local participants for such problem, and tell them they can submit their contribution after the maintenance. I will send another update when the tool comes back. If you have further questions regarding the tool, please feel free to reach me or the tool developer Le Loi. Best, Addis Wang/ sent by MediaWiki message delivery (kjak) 14. nov 2016 kl. 22:07 (UTC)
Update (Nov. 16)
rættaHi WAM organizers! It's now half way! Good job! Here are some updates:
- As many of you may notice, that the judging tool has came back to normal.
- I've set up a result page with some numbers in it. It may not accurate, just as a reference at this time.
- WAM should get more media coverage. If you can help (either locally or internationally), please let me know!
- Please considering start judging articles if you have not yet. it's really important to give feedbacks to participants so they can improve articles or get motivated.
- With your help, I may start the first round of address collection before WAM ends for who already have four accepted articles and organizers, as I promised to improve the postcard sending process this year.
- Feel free to reach out to me for any question! At my meta talk page.
Best Wishes,

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- Administrators, bureaucrats, oversighters and checkusers can now use two-factor authentication. This makes their Wikimedia accounts more secure. This can be turned on in Special:Preferences. There are discussions on how to best turn it on for everyone. [317]
- You can now search for file properties. For example you can search for media type, how big a file is or what resolution it has. [318]
- The latest Collaboration team products newsletter has been published. It has more details about their work than Tech News has.
Problems
- A hacker group is hacking Wikimedia accounts. They can probably do this because users have the same passwords on Wikimedia wikis as on other sites. Please have a password you use only on the Wikimedia wikis and nowhere else. This is especially important for administrators, bureaucrats, oversighters and checkusers. These users can also turn on two-factor authentication. [319]
Changes this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
- RevisionSlider will be a default feature on German, Arabic and Hebrew Wikipedia. This will happen on 22 November. It will come to other wikis later. [320][321][322]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 22 November at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- It will be possible to do cross-wiki search. The developers who work on this are looking for communities that want to test this. [323]
- Hovercards will leave the beta stage. The Wikimedia Foundation Reading Web team wants communities to set Hovercards as a default option for readers who are not logged in. Communities that are interested can say so on the Hovercards talk page. [324]

Changes this week
- When someone tries to log in to a blocked account they will be blocked by a cookie. This means their browser will be blocked even if they change their IP address. This makes it more difficult for returning vandals. [325]
- When you use Content Translation to adapt a template to a new translation it will work differently. You can adapt big templates such as infoboxes. Translators will have control over the template parameters. A first version of this is released this week. It is possible it will not work correctly with all templates. There will be more updates for this soon. [326]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 29 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 30 November. It will be on all wikis from 1 December (calendar).
- Gadgets will have a new option called "hidden". This means you can register gadgets that can't be turned on or off from the preferences page. Hiding gadgets was already possible by using
[rights=hidden]
. You should now use[hidden]
instead.[rights=hidden]
in old gadgets should be changed to[hidden]
. [327][328]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 29 November at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Tool Labs could get two new policies. One would be to be able to adopt tools without an active developer. The other would be a right to fork. There is a request for comment on Meta.

- The writers of the technical newsletter are asking for your opinion. Did you get the information you wanted this year? Did we miss important technical news in 2016? What kind of information was too late? Please tell us! You can write in your language. Thank you!
Recent changes
- Administrators and translation administrators can now use Special:PageLanguage on wikis with the Translate extension. This means you can say what language a page is in. The Translate extension will use that language as the source language when you translate. Previously this was always the wiki's default language. This was usually English. [337]
- Wikis connected to Wikidata can now use the parser function
{{#statements: }}
to get formatted data. You can also use{{#property: }}
to get raw data. You can see the difference between the two statements. There are also similar new functions in Lua. [338]
Problems
- Some abuse filters for uploaded files have not worked as they should. We don't know exactly which filters didn't work yet. This means some files that filters should have prevented from being uploaded were uploaded to the wikis. MediaWiki.org and Testwiki have been affected since 13 October. Commons and Meta have been affected since 17 October. Other wikis have been affected since 17 November. [339]

stageinfobox
rættaHi EileenSanda. The work continue on Wikidata, little to little. A new function, stageinfobox, is now a reality and works very well.
l10nDef["en"] = {"Race details", "Race", "Type", "Date", "Dates", "Distance", "Country", "Countries", "Journey origin", "Lieu d'arrivée", "Starting riders",
"Arriving riders", "Average speed", "Cost", "Stage results", "Winner", "Second", "Third", "Combative",
"General classification after stage", "Leader", "Second", "Third",
"Secondary classifications after stage", "Points", "Mountain", "Sprints", "Young", "Combativity", "Combinated", "Metas volantes", "Regularity",
"Team", "Team by points",
"Image", "Legend", "Card", "Sectional view", "Documentation", "Cima Coppi", "Cima Pantani", "Azzurri d'Italia", "Fuga Pinarello"}
You can translate this code. Once it will be done on d:Module:Cycling race, I will update your copy and give the function. Then, we will discuss to view if we should make adaptations to your language. If you have the time, next week, you can compare display in French and in FO Wiki, and contact us to list them if you want. On the page of the module, you will find documentations and kits to translate. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 23. des 2016 kl. 14:03 (UTC) PS : users from different countries have started to enter on Wikidata 2017 rosters.
- Yes, I will tranlate it right now. But there are a few words which I don´t understand. What is "Cost"? I think I will just leave the three last words as they are, i.e. Cima Coppi?
l10nDef["fo"] = {"Smálutir um kapping", "Kapping", "Slag", "Dagur", "Dagar", "Fjarstøða", "Land", "Lond", "Byrjunarbýur", "Málbýur", "Byrjandi súkklarar",
"Fullførandi súkklarar", "Miðalferð", "Kostnaður", "Teinaúrslit", "Vinnari", "Annað pláss", "Triðja pláss", "Álopsheiður",
"Høvuðskappingin eftir teinin", "Førandi súkklari", "Tveyari", "Tríari",
"Aðrar kappingar eftir teinin", "Stig", "Fjøll", "Spurtar", "Ungdóms", "Álopsheiður", "Kombinatiónsheiður", "Metas volantes", "Regularitetur",
"Lið", "Lið eftir stigum",
"Mynd", "Myndatekstur", "Kort", "Brotpartur", "Skjalfesting", "Cima Coppi", "Cima Pantani", "Azzurri d'Italia", "Fuga Pinarello"}
- Thank you. For the cost, you will find translations on d:Property:P2130 and d:Q240673. Yes, Cima Coppi and others don't need translations, they are special classifications in the Giro d'Italia. We have new items for translate here. I think I will do an update before the end of the year.
- Can you vote here for the creation of nine properties about classifications ? We will need these properties to prepare functions in 2017 about these classifications and continue the work.
!!Your new function is Fyrimynd:Cycling race/stageinfobox/doc. For the title, it correspond to the label given by Wikidata. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 23. des 2016 kl. 18:04 (UTC)
- Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick Thanks a lot for your work, well done! Just a few small corrections, could you please correct km/h to km/t just like in Danish and Norwegian? And add an "n" to "Høvuðskappingin eftir teini" (Høvuðskappingin eftir teinin) and also here: "Aðrar kappingar eftir teini" correct it into "Aðrar kappingar eftir teinin" with an "n" in the end, I didn't realize until now the exact meaning. "Cost" is "Kostnaður". Thanks. --EileenSanda (kjak) 26. des 2016 kl. 00:10 (UTC)
- It is done, thank you. I have another question : For writing a stage, we write in French 1re étape, or 7e b étape. Have you a way to display a stage, is 1. teinin always good ? And what you do when you have halves stages ? 1a. teinin ? Note that I surely should wait the return of Molarus if it is too complex for me to display. - On another point, you will find articles to create on fr:Catégorie:Cyclisme sur route en 2017. Now, we widely use Wikidata on FR Wiki. I will be happy in 2017 if we become able to centralise fr:Discussion modèle:Barème des points UCI for UCI Points. Changes sometimes occur and it will be cool to be able to display automatically this table, and to be able to have tables for 1990s or 2000s for example. - We use the dot (.) just like in Danish, behind the number, and regard the word for etape, it depends if it is in nominativ, then it is "1. teinur", in akkusativ it would be "1. teinin", i.e. if the sentence starts with "1re étape" it would be "1. teinur". If it is for instance "Chris Froome won the 1st etape" it would be "Chris Froome vann 1. teinin". The Faroese language is more complicated than Danish in that way, it is like in German, we cline the nouns in four cases, nominative, accusative, dative and genitive case. The last thing you just wrote sound very good :) Kind regards --EileenSanda (kjak) 26. des 2016 kl. 12:42 (UTC)
- Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick Could you please do another correction? I have just created Amstel Gold Race 2016 and in the infobox the distance is shown with this number 248.7 km. It should be with comma (,) 248,7 km, just like in Danish and French. The same for the average speed, which here says 39.473 km/h, it should be 39,473 km/t. --EileenSanda (kjak) 26. des 2016 kl. 15:25 (UTC)
- But when it is a halve stage, you write 7a. teinur or 7.a teinur or 7. a teinur ? It is a very very specific case, but Molarus is able to do a good display. I modify the algorithm to add km/t for the function infobox, but I don't remember where I must work to put commas for FO Wiki (it is the end of a long day, I will look again tomorrow. If I not succed, Molarus will help us). Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 26. des 2016 kl. 18:43 (UTC)
- I actually don't know about how to write when it is a half stage. Just do it the same way as in Danish. Thanks a lot for your great work, and thsnks to Molarus as well :) The comma and punktuation issue can wait. Best regards --EileenSanda (kjak) 26. des 2016 kl. 19:46 (UTC)
- I don't know for DA, but I call Hejsa. If you want, you can edit this page and add translations in FO. I will ask the creation of these properties in very few time. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 27. des 2016 kl. 10:04 (UTC)
- According to this website, it is called 1a. etape and 1b. etape in Danish. --Hejsa (kjak) 27. des 2016 kl. 11:56 (UTC)
- Thank you. I keep this discussion, we will surely work on this point next month. Now, the biggest part of the work is done, we will become able to spend more time to be more adapted to languages. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (kjak) 27. des 2016 kl. 12:17 (UTC)
- Thanks for your input Hejsa, then it will be: 1a. teinur and 1b. teinur in Faroese. Thanks again for your work Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick, I will make the translations. --EileenSanda (kjak) 27. des 2016 kl. 12:26 (UTC)
